LOMAs

Your lender may require you to carry expensive flood insurance as a condition of your mortgage loan, if the structure (or part of it) lies within a Special Flood Hazard Area as shown on floodplain maps available from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA. in accordance with federal floodplain management regulations  FEMA may be willing to exempt your structure from the insurance requirement; this may require that they issue a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA), stating that the structure does not lie within a flood hazard area, based on data from an application completed by a licensed land surveyor (or registered professional engineer). We can complete this application for you and obtain the data FEMA will require. Normally we will have to visit the site and make some measurements to obtain this data. We will then complete the application and file it with FEMA. FEMA normally responds within 30 to 60 days.
